VACCINATING YOUR DOG AGAINST SNAKEBITES |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
RED ROCK BIOLOGIESShould you vaccinate against snake bites? How does this affect avoidance training? Snake bite vaccines are a very good idea for your dog. Keep in mind this is a preventative measure, not to be confused with anti-venin which is used AFTER a snake bite. Vaccinating your dog against a rattlesnakebite helps reduce the damage, and increases the likelihood of a dog surviving a snake bite. It also reduces the cost of treatment substantially should your dog be bittten. ALWAYS KEEP IN MIND THAT EVEN IF YOUR DOG HAS BEEN VACCINATED, A BITE FROM A SNAKE IS A LIFE THREATENING EMERGENCY. You should also snake proof (through aversion conditioning) as well as vaccinate your dog. Ironically, your dog is more likely to be bitten by a snake, than get rabies.
